Uses and synthesis of Esculin powder

Esculin powder is a coumarin-like compound extracted from the dry bark or bark of Carpinus ash, a plant of the mieaceae family. It is an effective component of traditional Chinese medicine fructus chinensis. At room temperature, esculin powder is white crystalline powder with a slightly bitter smell. Esculin CAS 531-75-9 and its aglycoid aesculetin are effective in the treatment of bacillary dysentery and tracheitis.
