Salicylamide powder, also known as o-hydroxybenzamide with molecular formula C7H7NO2 and CAS number 65-45-2, is a white or slightly pink crystalline powder that should be sealed, dried and preserved away from light. Salicylamide is a very important intermediate in organic synthesis. Physicochemical Property of Salicylamide powder

Salicylamide white or pink crystalline powder. Melting point 140℃. Soluble in hot water, alcohol, ether and chloroform, slightly soluble in cold water. The pH of a saturated solution at 28℃ is about 5. Slightly bitter.

Production methodprocess of Salicylamide powder

Methyl salicylate and 25% ammonia were stirred at 20℃ for 3h and then at 30-40℃ for 5h. The reaction liquid was cooled and acidified to pH3-4, that is, Salicylamide powder was precipitated.
