Uses and synthesis of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole powder

2-Mercaptobenzothiazole powder is a chemical with the formula C7H5NS2. Light yellow powder. Has a slight odor and bitter taste. The density of pure products is 1.42; Melting point 178~180℃. The density of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole is 1.40~1.48; Melting point 170~178℃. Soluble in propanol, ethanol, chloroform, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and other alkaline solutions, slightly soluble in benzene, insoluble in water and gasoline. 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole is mainly used as a vulcanization accelerator for rubber (accelerator M), but also as a pesticide fungicide, called nuodex or agent M. It can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor. 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole powder is also used as a special reagent for metals. It can be synthesized from aniline, carbon disulfide and sulfur, or carbon disulfide and diphenylthiourea, or o-nitrochlorobenzene, sodium hydrosulfide and carbon disulfide.
