The chemical name of Imatinib mesylate powder is 4-(4-methyl-1-piperazine) methyl-N-4-methyl-3-4 -(3-pyridine) -2-pyrimidine aminophenyl-benzoamide mesylate, the molecular formula is C29H31N7O·CH4SO3, and the molecular weight is 589.7. Imatinib mesylate can inhibit Bcr-Abl tyrosine kinase at the cellular level in vivo and in vitro, selectively inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of Bcr-Abl positive cell lines, Ph chromosome positive chronic myelogenous leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients.

1. Imatinib mesylate powder also inhibited tyrosine kinases of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptors, stem cell factor (SCF) receptors, and c-Kit receptors, thereby inhibiting PDGF and stem cell factor-mediated cell behavior.
