Uses and synthesis of Fmoc-Gly-OH powder

Fmoc-Gly-OH powder is an important amino acid derivative known chemically as N-(9H-fluidone-2-oxo) -glycine. Fmoc-Gly-OH White or white-like solid, soluble in organic solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and dichloromethane, slightly soluble in alcohol, almost insoluble in water. Fmoc-glycine is a glycine protected by Fmoc. Fmoc-gly-oh is a glycine protected by Fmoc, which is mainly used in the synthesis of polypeptides. The efficiency and yield of polypeptide synthesis are greatly affected by the different amino acid protection groups.

Applications/Functions of Fmoc-Gly-OH powder

  1. Fmoc-Gly-OH powder is mainly used for polypeptide synthesis in solid phase synthesis (SPPS). As a protected amino acid, it is added to the polypeptide chain by solid-phase synthesis, and finally the target polypeptide is obtained by the reaction of de-protection group.
  2. Fmoc-gly-oh can be used to prepare a corrosion inhibitor for glycine derivatives. By amidation reaction, Fmoc- protective group and hydrophobic long chain are connected to glycine molecules, and the metal is adsorbed by heteroatoms and biphenyl rings containing π electrons. The hydrophobic long chain blocks water molecules and makes them form a protective film on the surface of steel to achieve the purpose of anti-corrosion.

Production methodprocess of Fmoc-Gly-OH powder

The preparation of Fmoc-Gly-OH powder is usually done by chemical reaction. Glycine reacts with N-fluorophenyl alcohol and a base (such as triethylamine) to form n-fluorophenyl-glycine hydrochloride. Then, the hydrochloric acid is removed by a deacidifier (such as dimethyl sulfoxide or para-butanol) to obtain N-FMOc-glycine.
