Product details
Anisole Liquid, also known as anisole, methoxybenzene, methyl phenyl ether, a colorless liquid with the odor of aniseed, sweet taste, naturally occurring in tarragon essential oil, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone, Anisole CAS 100-66-3 soluble in benzene. Irritates eyes and mucous membranes. Originally obtained from distillation of methyl salicylate or methoxybenzoic acid, Anisole Raw Materials is now mainly produced by reacting the methylating reagent dimethyl sulfate with phenol in alkaline aqueous solution.
Anisole CAS 100-66-3 readily undergoes electrophilic substitution reactions on the aromatic nucleus. It is condensed with formaldehyde to produce viscous oil or resin; reacted with phosphorus chloride to produce p-chloroanisole and a small amount of o-chloro product; reacted with sulfuryl chloride to produce 2,4,6-trichloroanisole.
In addition, when Anisole Raw Materials is heated with hydrobromic acid or hydriodic acid, the carbon-oxygen bond will be broken, and phenol and halomethane will be generated, which is an important method to determine the methoxy group on the benzene ring.
Applications / Functions of Anisole Liquid
Physicochemical Property of Anisole Liquid
Colorless liquid with aromatic odor. Anisole Liquid is insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether.
Production methodprocess of Anisole Liquid
Anisole Liquid is produced by reacting the methylating agent dimethyl sulfate with phenol in alkaline solution. Mix phenol with sodium hydroxide solution and slowly add dimethyl sulfate below 10℃. After the addition, raise the temperature to 40 ℃ reflux reaction 18h, and then static separation of the oil layer, dried with anhydrous calcium chloride and then subtracted distillation to obtain Anisole CAS 100-66-3.
