Zinc bromide powder is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnBr2. It is a colorless salt that has many of the same properties as zinc chloride, namely high solubility in forming acidic solutions in water and good solubility in organic solvents. Zinc bromide is hygroscopic and forms ZnBr2·2H2 O dihydrate. White diamond shaped crystalline powder. Density 4.201g/cm3. Melting point 394℃. Boiling point 650℃. Soluble in water, alcohol, acetone, tetrahydrofuran. Soluble in ammonia. Insoluble in ether.
