Uses and synthesis of Chitin powder
Chitin powder is a nitrogen-containing polysaccharide, also known as chitin, chitin, chitin, chitosan, chitin, etc. It is the second most abundant biopolymer in nature, and is widely distributed.
- Chitin CAS 1398-61-4 is an important component of the shells of many lower animals, especially arthropods such as shrimps, crabs, insects, etc. Shrimp shells contain about 15-30%, crab shells contain about 15-20%.
- Chitin Raw Materials is also a component of the cell membrane of lower plants, lichen, green algae, yeast, jellyfish and squid.
Applications / Functions of Chitin powder
- Chitin CAS 1398-61-4 is an important raw material for the production of chitosan and glucosamine. Chitin and its derivatives have important uses in medicine, chemical industry, health food, etc., and have broad application prospects.Chitin CAS 1398-61-4 is used in the production of soluble chitin and glucosamine, can be used as additives for cosmetics and functional foods, and can be used in the preparation of photographic emulsions.
- Chitin powder is mainly used in fruit juice, fruit wine, etc. to prevent discolouration and remove astringency. It can also be used as binder, glazing agent, filler, film-forming agent and emulsifier.
- Isolated from shrimp shell chitin and used for chitinase analysis.Chitin Raw Materials is a polysaccharide consisting of N-acetyl-D-glucomasine.Chitin powder can also be used in the manufacture of glucosamine and chitosan. The quality requires purification before use as a substrate for chitinase.
Important raw material for the production of chitosan and glucosamine series products; chitin extracted from shrimp shells, suitable for chitosan enzyme analysis; used for the immobilisation of α-amylase; fructose production by immobilisation of inulinase; in the bacterial production of N,N′-diacetyl chitosan, the preparation of keratinous gums
Physicochemical Property of Chitin powder
- Chitin CAS 1398-61-4 is a white amorphous powder, odourless and tasteless. It can be dissolved in dimethyl acetamide containing 8% lithium chloride or concentrated acid; Chitin powder is insoluble in water, dilute acid, alkali, ethanol or other organic solvents.
- In nature, Chitin CAS 1398-61-4 is widely found in lower plant fungi, shells of shrimps, crabs, insects and other crustaceans, cell walls of higher plants, etc. Chitin Raw Materials is a kind of linear polymer polysaccharides, i.e. natural neutral mucopolysaccharides.
Production methodprocess of Chitin powder
Chitin Raw Materials is obtained by removing calcium carbonate from the shells of shrimps, crabs and other crustaceans in an acidic aqueous solution, and then using a hot weak alkaline solution to remove the protein.
It is also possible to crush the crustaceans and then boil the protein with 2% dilute alkali solution for about 1.5h and separate it out, then add 5% to 10% hydrochloric acid in the insoluble material to make the calcium carbonate turn into calcium chloride and dissolve and remove it, and then centrifugal separation, washing and drying to make the Chitin powder.
