Product details

Menatetrenone Powder Usage and Synthesis:

Menatetrenone Powder is a yellow powder obtained from acetone-ethanol or methanol-chloroform, molecular weight 580.90, melting point 51-52℃, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in oil, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents, but its solubility is slightly worse than that of vitamin K1. It is decomposed by strong acid, oxidizer, alkali and light. Tetramethylene naphthoquinone (vitamin K2) is widely found in green leaves and vegetables, but also in fish, meat, cheese and liver oil. It can be extracted from corn leaves and rotting fish, or synthesized from 2-methylnaphthoquinone-1,4.

Pharmacokinetics of Menatetrenone Powder:

Menatetrenone Powder, also known as vitamin K2, is a naturally occurring vitamin that contains the basic structure of menaquinone and has an anti-hemorrhagic effect. In 1929, Dame discovered that there are two kinds of vitamin K in nature, K1 and K2, both of which are naphthoquinones. Insoluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents and vegetable oils, heat resistant, but easily destroyed by light. It can promote the synthesis of prothrombinogen in the liver and regulate the synthesis of coagulation factors VII, IX and X, thus accelerating blood clotting. The mechanism of action of tetraene-methylnaphthoquinone (vitamin K2) is similar to that of vitamin K1 and can assist γ-glutamyl carboxylase in converting glutamate (Glu) to γ-carboxyglutamate (Gla). This process is useful for the production of Gla-proteins (Gla-containing proteins).

Clinical Application of Menatetrenone Powder:

Vitamin K2 (Menaquinone) is a very important fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in protecting the heart and brain and in building strong bones. It is mainly synthesized by intestinal bacteria, and there are 14 different types depending on the length of the isoprene side chain on C3. The main vitamin used to treat osteoporosis is vitamin K2 (20), or tetraene-methylnaphthoquinone. Tetraenolone has osteogenic effect and promotes calcium metabolism, and also inhibits bone resorption caused by osteoclasts, thus increasing bone density and preventing osteoporosis. Tetraene-methylnaphthoquinone is easily decomposed by light, so it needs to be stored away from light and is suitable for softgel formulations. Click here to learn more.
