Uses and synthesis of Diaveridine powder

Diaveridine powder, also known as dimethoxybenzidine, is an antibacterial, anticoccidide, and antileukocytozoan agent. Because it is easy to form resistance, it is not declared to use alone. Diaveridine is often used in a 1:5 ratio with sulfonamides or antimicrobials to enhance antibacterial and bactericidal action. The drug can not be used with lasamycin, monensin, salomycin and other anticocciditic drugs, and should be used with caution in laying hens, preferably at the same time with sodium bicarbonate. Diaveridine is a special antibacterial drug for livestock and poultry. Its antibacterial action and antibacterial range are the same as TMP, and it has obvious synergistic effect on sulfonamides and antibiotics, but the oral absorption rate is low.

Applications/Functions of Diaveridine powder

• Diaveridine powder has antibacterial effect and obvious synergism to sulfonamides and antimicrobials. It is less absorbed orally and has a high concentration in the stomach and intestines, which is suitable for intestinal infection. Diaveridine can be mixed with sulfamequinoline or sulfamethoxine to make premixed agent, which can be added to feed or made into tablet paste. It is used to treat poultry bacterial infection, and also has good prevention and control effect against coccosis and intestinal infection of livestock and poultry.
• A veterinary drug, sulfonamide, used to control bacterial infection in poultry. It is also an anti-coccidiosis drug, used in combination with sulfaquinoxaline to treat coccidiosis in poultry.
• Diaveridine has antibacterial action and has obvious synergistic effect on sulfonamides and antibiotics

Physicochemical Property of Diaveridine powder

White or light yellow crystalline powder, odorless. Melting point 224-233℃. Very slightly soluble in water, ethanol, ether, chloroform and dilute lye, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid.
