Sarafloxacin hydrochloride is a new animal drug after enrofloxacin. It was developed and marketed by Abbott Laboratories in the United States. The antibacterial activity of Sarafloxacin hydrochloride is stronger than that of difloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin-amiacin and tobramycin, and its antibacterial activity against anaerobic bacteria is comparable to that of ciprofloxacin. Sarafloxacin hydrochloride is mainly used for the treatment of streptococcus suis, colibacillosis and domestic E. coli, Salmonella and other bacterial infections.
