Produced by diazotization of p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid coupled with 1-(4'-sulfophenyl)-3-hydroxy-5-pyrazolone; also can be condensed with sodium bis-hydroxytartaric acid and phenylhydrazine p-sulfonic acid, alkalinisation and then the resulting pigment is salted out with table salt, and then refined to Acid Yellow 23 CAS 1934-21-0.

Acid Yellow 23 Raw Materials is obtained by condensing bis-hydroxytartaric acid with phenylhydrazine-p-sulfonic acid or coupling p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid with 1-(4'-sulfonylphenyl)-3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone after diazotisation, and then refining after salting with sodium chloride.
