Uses and synthesis of Honokiol powder
Honokiol powder is brown to white fine powder, fragrant, spicy and slightly bitter. The monomer is a colorless scaly crystal. Melting point 87.5℃. Rotation ±0°. Cm-1:320, 1610, 1500, 882,826. Honokiol is soluble in common organic solvents, easily soluble in benzene, ether, chloroform, ethanol, etc., but insoluble in water. It reacts with ferric chloride in chloroform to form blue. Honokiol has obvious and lasting pharmacological effects of central muscle relaxation, central nervous inhibition, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, disease-resistant pathogenic microorganisms, anti-ulcer, anti-oxidation, anti-aging, anti-tumor, and cholesterol reduction. Honokiol powder is an isomer of magnolia officinalis, a dimer polymerized by the side chain of one phenylpropyl and the benzene nucleus of another phenylpropyl. It is called neolignan, which is found in many plants of the lauraceae family and is an effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory component of magnolia officinalis.
