Product details
Bovine albumin powder is one of the most commonly used proteins in biochemical laboratories. Bovine serum albumin (BSA), also known as Group 5, is a globulin in bovine serum, containing 583 amino acid residues. Bovine albumin has been widely used in biochemical experiments. Bovine serum albumin is generally used as a stabilizer to restrict enzymes or modify enzymes in the storage solution and reaction solution, stabilize enzyme activity, and prevent enzyme decomposition and non-specific adsorption. Bovine albumin can be used as a supplement for athletes and bodybuilders to increase muscle mass and promote recovery.
Applications/Functions of Bovine albumin powder
Applications of Bovine albumin powder
1. Protein quantification experiments
Standard: BSA is widely used in protein quantification experiments such as Bradford method, Lowry method, etc. Because of its stable molecular weight (about 66.5 kDa) and known concentration characteristics, it is used to draw the standard curve.
2. Immunological experiments
Sealer: In ELISA, Western blot, immunofluorescence and other techniques, BSA is used to seal the non-specific binding site and reduce the background signal interference.
3. Cell culture
Media additive: As a nutritional supplement for serum-free media, BSA binds and transports fatty acids, hormones and other substances to promote cell growth and survival, especially widely used in stem cell culture.
4. Enzyme reaction stabilizer
Protect enzyme activity: In PCR, restriction endonuclease reaction, BSA prevents enzyme inactivation and improves the reaction efficiency by reducing the non-specific adsorption between enzyme and tube wall.
5. Drug delivery system
Carrier protein: BSA combines with hydrophobic drugs to form stable complexes, which improves solubility, targeting and bioavailability of drugs, and is used in nano drug delivery systems.
6. Biosensors and diagnostic reagents
Modification materials: BSA is used to modify the surface of sensors or as a blocking agent for diagnostic reagents to enhance detection sensitivity and specificity.
7. Veterinary medicine and vaccine production
Ingredient control: In the development of veterinary drugs and vaccines, BSA is used as a key ingredient or quality control standard, and its concentration needs to be accurately detected by ELISA and other methods.
Physicochemical Property of Bovine albumin powder
White or white freeze-dried powder, soluble in water, protein solidification and precipitation in heat (above 60℃).
Production methodprocess of Bovine albumin powder
Bovine albumin powder was isolated from bovine blood as raw material, and the serum of bovine albumin powder was obtained after fractional precipitation with ammonium sulfate and refined by caprylic acid treatment.
