Strontium carbonate powder, formula SrCO3, colorless prismatic crystal or white powder. At 926℃, it is transformed into hexagonal system. The melting point is 1497℃(6.08×106Pa) and the relative density is 3.70. Slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in saturated solution of carbon dioxide, soluble in ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate and carbonic acid solution. Strontium carbonate reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid to release carbon dioxide. Strontium carbonate powder is used for the manufacture of color TV cathode ray tubes, electromagnets, strontium ferrites, pyrotechnics, fluorescent glass, signal bombs, etc. It is also a raw material for the production of other strontium salts and is used as the base powder for the production of special PTC thermistor components. Strontium carbonate, as a support of palladium, can be used for hydrogenation. In addition, it is also used in papermaking, medicine, analytical reagents, sugar refining, metal zinc electrolyte refining, strontium salt pigment manufacturing.

The bromine extracted strontium mother liquor was neutralized with lime, condensed and cooled, sodium chloride was removed, calcium was removed by caustic soda and ammonium bicarbonate was added to convert strontium hydroxide to precipitate strontium carbonate.
