Telmisartan powder, a novel antihypertensive drug, isa specific angiotensin II receptor (AT1 type) antagonist. Telmisartan white to white crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. It is soluble in chloroform, slightly soluble in methanol, very slightly soluble in acetone, and almost insoluble in water. Telmisartan replaces the angiotensin II receptor with a high affinity binding to the AT1 receptor subtype, a known angiotensin II action site. Telmisartan powder did not have any site agonist effect at the AT1 receptor site, telmisartan selectively bound to the AT1 receptor, and the binding effect was long-lasting. Antihypertensive stability does not cause cough.
