    Sulfadiazine powder, also known as sulfadiazine and diazine, is a sulfanilamide anti-infection drug commonly used clinically in China. The molecular structure of sulfadiazine is similar to that of p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). It is white or white-like crystal or powder, odorless and tasteless, and gradually darkens when exposed to light. Rarely soluble in water, soluble in boiling water (1:60), slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in chloroform and ether, easily soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solution or ammonia solution. Sulfadiazine is an excellent variety of sulfonamides with strong antibacterial action, good curative effect, faster absorption, slower excretion and higher effective concentration in blood. Sulfadiazine powder is used clinically to treat upper respiratory tract infections. Epidemic meningitis, otitis media, furuncle, puerperal fever, urinary tract infection and acute dysentery.
