Pirimiphos-methyl powder Usage and Synthesis.
Like other organophosphorus, methyl pirimiphos is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. It has contact, stomach poison, fumigation and certain systemic effects. Its insecticidal action principle is to cause acetylcholine accumulation in stored grain pests, causing cholinergic nerves to continue to impulse and die. At the same time, due to its long residual effect, it also has a continuous protective effect.
Uses of Pirimiphos-methyl powder.
It has a wide insecticide spectrum, rapid action, strong penetration, and has contact, stomach poison and fumigation effects. It is mainly used for storage pests and sanitary pests. If the room temperature is 30℃ and the relative humidity is 50%, the efficacy can reach 45 to 70 weeks.
In Southeast Asia, 200g of 2% powder is applied to each ton of grain, which can keep it free of insects for 6 months. Spray the sacks with the agent, and the grain in the bag will not be attacked by saw-toothed grain beetles, rice weevils, grain borers, and powdery moths for several months; if the sacks are treated by immersion, the effective period will be longer. It can be used as a substitute for highly toxic organophosphorus pesticides.

Function of Pirimiphos-methyl.

Product method of Bulk Pirimiphos-methyl.
Preparation of diethylguanidine nitrate: Add diethylamine in a molar ratio, add about 200mL of mother liquor, then cool it with a cold water bath, add 65% concentrated nitric acid (nitric acid/diethylamine = 1.2 molar ratio) dropwise at 10-20℃, then add 0.5mol of lime nitrogen, gradually raise the temperature to 70℃, then keep the reaction for 0.5-2h, pass 0.5mol of CO2 gas, the ventilation time is about 0.5h, then heat to 90℃ and filter while hot, discard the filter cake, cool the filtrate to precipitate needle-shaped crystals, filter and dry, and the mother liquor is used for the next batch of experiments.
Preparation of 2-diethylamino-6-methyl-4-hydroxypyrimidine: Add 0.1 mol of diethylguanidine nitrate, then add 120 mL of toluene, start stirring, add potassium carbonate according to the ratio, raise the temperature to a slight reflux, and then slowly add ethyl acetoacetate. The addition time is 1.5 to 2 hours. After the addition is completed, reflux and evaporate the low-boiling substances. Reflux reaction for 0.5 to 2 hours, cool down, add 120 mL of water, and adjust the solution to weak acidity (pH value of about 6) with hydrochloric acid under sufficient stirring conditions, then remove the solvent toluene (recover and reuse), and obtain a light yellow granular solid.
Synthesis of methyl pirimiphos: Add 0.10 mol of hydroxypyrimidine, then add 70 mL of ethyl acetate solvent, stir, then add an acid-binding agent anhydrous K2CO3 according to the ratio, reflux for 1 hour, cool to 45-50 ° C, add a certain ratio of methyl chloride, heat to reflux temperature after adding, reflux reaction for 6-10 hours, cool and filter, discard the filter cake, and desolventize the mother liquor (recycle and reuse), then you can get yellow methyl pirimiphos crude oil.
