Spiramycin powder is one of the macrolide antibiotics. Produced by diplogenin. Spiramycin free base is white to light yellow powder; Bitter taste, slightly soluble in water, soluble in a variety of organic solvents. Spiramycin titer is 2700 units per milligram. Its sulfate is stable and soluble in water and ethanol. The antibacterial profile was similar to erythromycin. Spiramycin has weaker in vitro antibacterial activity than erythromycin, but its clinical effect is better. The antibacterial spectrum is similar to erythromycin and tylosin, and has antibacterial effect on streptococcus pneumoniae, streptococcus pyogenes, staphylococcus, meningococcus, mycoplasma and so on.
