Uses and synthesis of 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid
2-Butoxyethanol Liquid is one of the important derivatives of ethylene oxide (EO), it is a green solvent, colorless liquid, molecular weight 118.17, boiling range 163~174℃, non-volatile, relative density 0.9019, boiling point 171.1℃, flash point 60.5℃, toxic, 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid is miscible with water, linseed oil hydrocarbon solvents, it has strong solvency ability for synthetic rubber. Liquid and water, linseed oil hydrocarbon solvents can be miscible, and synthetic rubber has a strong solvency, suitable for natural rubber and synthetic rubber solvent, 2-Butoxyethanol Raw Materials also used as rosin, gum, shell turpentine and indene resins, ethyl fiber and nitrate fiber solvents
2-Butoxyethanol CAS 111-76-2 is a colorless flammable liquid with a moderate ether odor. Soluble in 20 times water, soluble in most organic solvents and mineral oil.
Applications / Functions of 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid
- 2-Butoxyethanol CAS 111-76-2 contains both ether bond and hydroxyl group in its molecule, this unique property makes it not only soluble in organic molecules, synthetic or natural polymer compounds, but also miscible with water or water-soluble compounds to varying degrees, so 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid is widely used as coatings, inks, cleaning agents, and pharmaceutical extractants.
- 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid is one of the important industrial derivatives of epoxy compounds, and is an extremely important fine chemical. Due to its chemical structure with two strong solubility function groups - ether bond and hydroxyl group, the former has lipophilic, can dissolve hydrophobic compounds, the latter has hydrophilic, can dissolve hydrophilic compounds, and thus has a strong solubility, has the "all-purpose solvents Therefore, it has strong solvency ability and is called "universal solvent".
- 2-Butoxyethanol Raw Materials is used as a solvent for paints and inks, as a component of metal cleaners, and as a raw material for dye dispersants.
- 2-Butoxyethanol CAS 111-76-2 is mainly used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, spray paint, quick-drying paint, varnish, enamel and paint stripper. It can also be used as fiber wetting agent, pesticide dispersant, resin plasticizer, organic synthesis intermediates. Reagent for the determination of iron and molybdenum. Auxiliary solvent for improving emulsification performance and dissolving mineral oil in soap.
- 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid is used as a reagent and solvent for the determination of iron and molybdenum, and for the separation of calcium and strontium from nitrates.
- 2-Butoxyethanol Raw Materials are used as solvents for paints, printing inks, stamp inks, oils, resins, etc. Metal detergents, paint strippers, lubricant strippers, automobile engine detergents, dry-cleaning solvents, epoxy resin solvents, and drug extractants; 2-Butoxyethanol Raw Materials are used as stabilizers for latex paints, evaporation stabilizers for aircraft paints, and as solvents in soap liquors. 2-Butoxyethanol Raw Materials are used as stabilizers for emulsion paints, evaporation inhibitors for aircraft paints, and surface processing for high temperature baking enamels.
Physicochemical Property of 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid
2-Butoxyethanol CAS 111-76-2 is a colorless flammable liquid with a medium etheric odor. Soluble in 20 times water, soluble in most organic solvents and mineral oil.
production methodprocess of 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid
- Raw material: ethylene oxide, n-butanol, phenol, butanol, methanol, copper sulfate, potassium hydroxide, caustic soda, benzene monochloride, ethanol production method: from ethylene oxide n-butanol addition. First add butanol in boron trifluoride an ether complex, at 25 ~ 30 ℃ through the ethylene oxide, automatic heating to 80 ℃ or so, that is the completion of the addition reaction. The reaction product was neutralized and distilled to crude product after recovering butanol, and then fractionated to obtain 2-Butoxyethanol CAS 111-76-2.
- 2-Butoxyethanol Liquid was obtained by the addition of ethylene oxide to n-butanol. n-Butanol was added to the ether solution of boron trifluoride at 20°C, and ethylene oxide was passed in under stirring. The temperature was automatically increased as the reaction proceeded and left for three days after the temperature had dropped. The crude product was obtained by neutralization with potassium hydroxide methanol solution to pH=8. Add a little p-aminophenol to the crude product and then carry out fractional distillation, fractionation 166-170 ℃ fractions, that is, the finished product. Industrial production can be used in high temperature and high pressure (reaction temperature 180-250 ℃, pressure of 2.1-4.6MPa) under the non-catalytic reaction method, the reaction of 6h. can also be used in the alkali catalyst at nearly atmospheric pressure and lower temperature.
