Uses and synthesis of Dicyclopentadiene liquid

Dicyclopentadiene liquid (DCPC) is a dimer of cyclopentadiene. High purity dicyclopentadiene is colorless crystal at room temperature, light yellow oily liquid when containing impurities, with irritating camphor taste, insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether and other organic solvents. Dicyclopentadiene can be used as a raw material for the production of unsaturated resins, metallocene, amantadane, glutaraldehyde, Dicyclopentadiene chloride (insecticide), etc. It is widely used in medicine, pesticides, spices, leather, synthetic rubber and other fields. In addition, Dicyclopentadiene can also be used as a high-energy fuel.

Applications/Functions of Dicyclopentadiene liquid

• Dicyclopentadiene liquid can be used as the third monomer of ethylene-propylene rubber. Used in the synthesis of ethylene norbornene, also used as the third monomer of ethylene propylene rubber. Reaction with maleic anhydride to obtain norbornyl diacid anhydride, used as curing agent for epoxy resin.
• Dicyclopentadiene is mainly used in medicine, pesticides, synthetic resins, fragrances, synthetic rubber and other fields.
