Sodium Persulfate is an inorganic salt, white crystals or crystalline powder. Odorless. It is odorless and tasteless. Molecular formula Na2S2O8, relative molecular mass 238.13. It decomposes gradually at room temperature and rapidly when heated or in ethanol, releasing oxygen and producing sodium metabisulfate. It is chemically stable, forbidden to match with strong reducing agent, active metal powder, strong alkali, alcohol, water, sulfur, phosphorus, etc. Avoid contact conditions: high temperature and humid air. It will decompose H2SO4, O3, SO2, Na2SO4 and other harmful products.
Pharmacokinetics of Sodium Persulfate:
Sodium Persulfate is a white crystalline powder. Decomposes gradually and is accelerated by humidity and high temperature. Solubility in water is 549g/L at 20°C. Relative density is 2.400 (bulk density: 0.7). Minimum lethal dose (rabbit, intravenous) 178mg/kg. oxidizing. Irritating. Sodium persulfate can be produced by treating ammonium persulfate with sodium carbonate. A purer product can be made by replacing sodium carbonate with sodium hydroxide. Put 122g of (NH4)2S2O8 and 100mL of NaOH solution with 33% concentration in a 500mL round bottom flask. The flask is connected to a vacuum pump and heated slightly to evaporate ammonia and water at a temperature of 30 to 40°C. After the volume of the solution is reduced to half of its original volume, the solution is cooled, the crystals are drained with a glass sand core funnel, and dried at 30 to 40°C for 1 to 2h.
Clinical Application of Sodium Persulfate:
Sodium Persulfate is usually used in plastic bags or two-layer kraft paper bags outside full or medium opening steel drums; plastic bags or two-layer kraft paper bags outside ordinary wooden boxes; threaded mouth glass bottles, iron cap pressed mouth glass bottles, plastic bottles or metal barrels (cans) outside ordinary wooden boxes. Sodium persulfate has strong oxidizing properties and can be used as an oxidizing agent. Used as oxidizer, bleaching agent and battery depolarizer, polymerization reaction promoter and other chemical reagents. It is used for waste liquid treatment in the photographic industry, as a soft etching agent for metal on the surface of printed circuit boards and as a desizing agent for textiles and a coloring agent for sulfur dyes. It can also be used in medicine, bleaching, batteries, and as chemical reagents.
