Cholesterol powder, also known as cholesterol, a derivative of cyclopentanophenanthrene, is an important component of various membrane phase structures of human cells and nerve myelin. A normal person with a body weight of 70 kg contains about 140 grams of cholesterol. Cholesterol is widely present in animals, especially in brain and nervous tissue, with high levels in kidney, spleen, skin, liver and bile. Its solubility is similar to fat, insoluble in water, soluble in ether, chloroform and other solvents.

Applications/Functions of Cholesterol powder

• 1.Cholesterol powder can be used as emulsifier, raw material for artificial bezoar, vitamin D, liquid crystal and synthetic hormone, as well as as a control material for analysis and biochemical research.
• 2.Cholesterol can also be used for brain-cholesterol flocculation tests. Cholesterol is the main component of biofilms, and about 25% of total cephalin is cholesterol.

Cholesterol white or yellowish crystal. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol (1:100), anhydrous ethanol (1:50), ether, acetone, dioxane and petroleum ether.
