Uses and synthesis of Ethyl 3-methyl-3-phenylglycidate liquid

Ethyl 3-methyl-3-phenylglycidate liquid colorless to light yellow liquid. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. Ethyl 3-methyl-3-phenylglycidate was obtained from the Darzens reaction of acetophenone with ethyl chloroacetate catalyzed by sodium ethanolate. Ethyl 3-methyl-3-phenylglycidate is used in the preparation of strawberry, cherry and apple flavor. For hyacinth, lilac, rose and other flower flavor and lipstick flavor, for strawberry, raspberry and other berry flavor.

Ethyl 3-methyl-3-phenylglycidate liquid was prepared by mixing phenylacetone and benzene (or xylene) of ethyl chloroacetate, adding powdered sodium amino while stirring, and kept at 15-20 ℃ for 4 hours, adding ice, and then vacuum distillation after washing the oil layer.
