Uses and synthesis of L-Leucine powder

L-Leucine powder is also known as leucine, that is, α-amino-gamma-methylvaleric acid, α-amino-isocaproic acid, with the molecular formula C6H13O2N. L-Leucine is an amino acid that is one of the important building blocks of proteins. It is a colorless, crystalline solid that is soluble in water. L-Leucine is one of the eight essential amino acids in the human body, belonging to the fat family of amino acids within the twenty protein amino acids, and L-isoleucine and L-valine are called three branch chain amino acids.

Applications/Functions of L-Leucine powder

White glossy hexahedral crystal or white crystalline powder. Slightly bitter (DL-leucine is sweet). Sublimation at 145 ~ 148℃. Melting point 293~295℃(decomposition). In the presence of hydrocarbons, the property is stable in inorganic acid aqueous solution.

Production methodprocess of L-Leucine powder

Protein (casein, keratin, etc.) was hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid or dilute sulfuric acid, and the mixture of leucine, L-isoleucine and L-methionine was precipitated by alkaline neutralization in the hydrolysate, refined by copper salt method, and precipitated by β-naphthalene sulfonic acid to obtain L-Leucine powder.
