A hepatitis adjuvant, Malotilate is used to improve liver function in compensatory cirrhosis. Malotilate powder inhibited the permeability of RLE monolayer which was increased by serum starvation. Malotilate powder can prevent tumor cells from invading vascular endothelium and inhibit tumor metastasis by strengthening the cell-cell contact of endothelial cells.

Diisopropyl malonate reacts with carbon disulfide in dimethyl sulfoxide and in the presence of potassium hydroxide. The resulting product reacts with 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane in the presence of potassium hydroxide to give Malotilate powder.
