Commercially formed by the reaction of citric acid with n-butanol, Tributyl citrate can be used directly as a plasticizer or can be further processed into the excellent plasticizer tributyl citrate. - Tributyl citrate is used as a gas chromatographic fixing solution, toughening agent for plastics, foam remover and solvent for nitric fiber

Physicochemical Property of Tributyl citrate liquid
Tributyl citrate is a colorless oily liquid with a slight odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in methanol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, glacial acetic acid, castor oil, mineral oil and other organic solvents.
Production methodprocess of Tributyl citrate liquid
When the acid value of the reactant drops below 1mgKOH/g, the end point of esterification is the reflux of citric acid and n-butanol (dosage ratio 1:1) under the action of sulfuric acid (dosage is 0.3% of the total mass of citric acid and n-butanol) at 150℃ for 4 ~ 5h. The products are decolorized by activated carbon, filtered, neutralized, washed and distilled under vacuum. The Tributyl citrate liquid is known as Tributyl Citrate liquid.
