Applications/Functions of Berberine powder
- Berberine powder is an antibacterial drug. It has antibacterial effects on hemolytic streptococcus, staphylococcus aureus, gonorrhoeae, Fredri and Shigella dysenteriae, and can enhance white blood cell phagocytosis. It can also inhibit tuberculosis bacillus and yersinia pestis to varying degrees.
- Berberine is widely used to treat gastroenteritis, bacillary dysentery, tuberculosis, scarlet fever, acute tonsillitis and respiratory infections.
- Berberine A plant antibiotic used to treat intestinal infections
Physicochemical Property of Berberine powder
Berberine is a common isoquinoline alkaloid. The yellow acicular crystal precipitated from the ether has a melting point of 145℃. Soluble in water, insoluble in benzene, ether and chloroform. It has the characteristics of quaternary amine salt.
Production methodprocess of Berberine powder
Using safrole as raw material, isosafrole was obtained by isomerization under reduced pressure, and piperaldehyde was synthesized by oxidation. Piperaldehyde is condensed with nitromethane to obtain β-nitro-3, 4-dioxylene styrene, further reduced to piperitylamine, piperitylamine is condensed with o-veratraldehyde, and then by catalytic hydrogenation, salting, cyclization, and alkalization to berberine. Berberine powder is produced by continuing to salt with hydrochloric acid.
