Physicochemical Property of Carbomer powder

Low molecular weight polyacrylic acid is colourless and transparent solid.20%-30% aqueous solution of Carbomer powder is light yellow or colourless viscous liquid. The molecular weight is 500-5000 and the pH is 2-4.

Its dissociation constant is about 5×10-5, similar to that of acetic acid (1.8×10-5) and much larger than the first dissociation constant of carbonic acid.
