    1. Nicotinic acid powder is a vitamin drug, together with niacinamide, known as vitamin PP, which is used to fight pellagra, and also used as a blood dilator, and is used in large quantities as an additive in food and feed.
    2. As a pharmaceutical intermediate, Nicotinic acid CAS 59-67-6 is used in the production of isoniazid, nicotinamide, nicosamide and inositol nicotinate.

    It is used in biochemical research, as a nutrient in tissue culture medium; clinical medicine belongs to vitamin B family, used in the treatment of pellagra, vascular migraine and so on.

    Physicochemical Property of Nicotinic acid powder

    White crystalline or crystalline powder, odourless or slightly odorous, slightly acidic taste. Melting point 234-237°C. Nicotinic acid powder is soluble in hot water, hot ethanol, alkaline water, propylene glycol and chloroform, slightly soluble in water and ethanol, soluble in 100mL water 1.6g at room temperature, insoluble in ether and ester solvents.

    • (1) Gas-phase ammonia oxidation method. Pass 3-methylpyridine, air and ammonia into the fluidised bed reactor in proportion, at 290-360 ℃, under the catalysis of V2O5 to generate nicotinonitrile, and then hydrolyse in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution at 160 ℃ to generate sodium nicotinate, and finally acidify with hydrochloric acid to get Nicotinic acid CAS 59-67-6.
    • (2) Potassium permanganate oxidation method. Add potassium permanganate into the mixture of 3-methylpyridine and water in batches at 80 ℃, and then continue to stir the reaction at 85-90 ℃ for 30min, distill and recover the un-reacted 3-methylpyridine, remove the manganese dioxide generated by filtration while it is still hot, and then adjust the PH of the resulting potassium nicotinic acid solution to 3.8-4.0 with hydrochloric acid, cool it down to 30 ℃, crystalise and filter it to get the crude nicotinic acid product. The crude product was dissolved in hot water, activated carbon was added to decolourise the product, filtered, cooled and crystallised to obtain Nicotinic Acid Raw Materials, with a yield of about 86%.
