Physicochemical Property of N-Bromosuccinimide powder

N-Bromosuccinimide powder, commonly abbreviated as NBS, is a white to milky white fine-grained crystal. Soluble in acetone, tetrahydrofuran, N,N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide and acetonitrile, slightly soluble in water and acetic acid, insoluble in ether, hexane and carbon tetrachloride.

Production methodprocess of N-Bromosuccinimide powder

1. Put the butanediimide finely into the reaction pot, add crushed ice and sodium hydroxide solution, stir to dissolve. Under vigorous stirring and cooling, add a mixture of bromine and carbon tetrachloride, stirring for 2 minutes and then quickly filtered. Sufficiently washed with ice water until the wash is colourless, then washed with a small amount of ethanol and dried to obtain N-Bromosuccinimide CAS 128-08-5 .
