Tetracycline hydrochloride is an antibacterial substance isolated from the culture medium of the actinomyces aureus, and has a good inhibitory effect on gram-positive bacteria, negative bacteria, Rickettsia, filtration virus, spirochaeta and even protozoa. Tetracycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is bactericidal at high concentrations and is more effective against gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative bacteria, but is resistant to Enterococcus and penicillin-resistant gonococcus. Tetracycline hydrochloride has good antibacterial effect on gram-negative bacteria such as Vibrio, Brucella, Campylobacter and Yersinia, but has no antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
