Mycophenolate mofetil powder, also known as mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), product name Cellcept, developed by Syntex Company in the United States, is a semi-synthetic derivative of mycophenolate acid (MPA) isolated from the ferment of mold Penicillingl. Mycophenolate mofetil, a reversible cell inhibitor, has been in clinical use for more than 10 years, mainly for the treatment of psoriasis. The Mycophenolate mofetil is mainly used to prevent allogeneic organ rejection. It is mainly used for kidney transplantation, but also for heart and liver transplantation, especially for refractory rejection after transplantation. It can be used simultaneously with cyclosporine and corticosteroids.
