​​Tetracycline hydrochloride powder is yellow crystal and odorless. Bitter. It absorbs moisture easily. The color of the light gradually darkens. Soluble in water and methanol. Ethanol, insoluble in ether, hydroxyl. Tetracycline hydrochloride is an antibacterial substance isolated from the culture medium of the actinomyces aureus, and has a good inhibitory effect on gram-positive bacteria, negative bacteria, Rickettsia, filtration virus, spirochaeta and even protozoa. Tetracycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is bactericidal at high concentrations and is more effective against gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative bacteria, but is resistant to Enterococcus and penicillin-resistant gonococcus. Tetracycline hydrochloride has good antibacterial effect on gram-negative bacteria such as Vibrio, Brucella, Campylobacter and Yersinia, but has no antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
