Physicochemical Property of Carrageenan powder
Translucent, crumpled, faintly glossy flakes or white to yellowish powder, odorless and slightly algal. κ-carrageenan and ε-carrageenan are soluble in hot water, λ-carrageenan is soluble in water, but they are not soluble in organic solvents. Dry carrageenan is very stable and does not hydrolyze even when heated in neutral and alkaline solutions, but hydrolysis easily occurs in acidic solutions below Ph 4.
Production methodprocess of Carrageenan powder
Carrageenan powder is treated with a saline-alkali treatment solution composed of alkali and salt of alkaline earth metal from red algae carrageenaceae, and then rinsed, exposed, boiled (100℃, 40 ~ 60min), filtered, frozen, dehydrated, dried, crushed and sterilized to prepare the finished product. Or pour the filtered filtrate into isopropyl alcohol, dissolve carrageenan under stirring, and then centrifuge separation, drying and crushing to produce the finished product.
