D-Mannose powder Raw Materials CAS 3458-28-4
Product Overview:
D-Mannose powder CAS number :3458-28-4, molecular formula :C6H12O6, molecular weight :180.16. Found in plants and cell wall oligosaccharides, D-Mannose can be obtained by hydrolysis of ivory palm seeds. There are two types: α-type and β-type. α-type is methyl crystal, melting point 133℃; β-type is ethyl crystal, melting point 132℃(decomposition point). Sweet, slightly bitter finish. Soluble in water (250%), insoluble in ethanol (0.4%), insoluble in ether. In plants, it exists mainly in the form of condensation in polysaccharides such as mannan. Frees are present in the exudate of coconut husks and Fraxinus ornus, and in trace amounts in citrus peel, germinated seeds and molasses.

Applications/Functions of D-Mannose powder
- D-Mannose powder is a carbohydrate that plays an important role in the glycation of molecules in a variety of cellular processes. It relates to the N and O glycosylation of bovine protein products used in infant formula. It is also responsible for O-glycosylation of helper T cell-derived cytokine interlukin-17A, an important cell signaling molecule.
- D-Mannose is used as a biochemical sweetener
- D-Mannose is used in cell culture and molecular biology
Physicochemical Property of D-Mannose powder
There are two types of D-Mannose: alpha - and beta -. α-type is methyl crystal, melting point 133℃; β-type is ethyl crystal, melting point 132℃(decomposition point). Sweet, slightly bitter finish. Soluble in water (250%), insoluble in ethanol (0.4%), insoluble in ether.
Production methodprocess of D-Mannose powder
The coconut husk is hydrolyzed with sulfuric acid to produce D-Mannose powder
